President, Informational Technology Educational Services, Inc. (Info|Ed).

Jon Blunt specializes in strategic planning for the use of technology in business and in assisting businesses in the strategic management of technology for organizational advantage and profit. He designs and teaches courses on Information Architecture and technology management and is the founder and executive director of The Information Architects' Cooperative (TiAC), a working group of information architects in major corporations.

Some of his major assignments during the past several years include:

bulletMajor studies for the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) on the impact of information technology on the marketing systems for air travel and freight
bulletA review of the organization of the information systems function for a major oil company
bulletPreparation of reports on banking and information technology for senior executives at a major North American bank
bulletDevelopment and presentation of seminars on Information Architecture and Managing Distributed Technology to I/S managers for a major hardware vendor
bulletLed the Information Architecture team in a major reorganization and reengineering project at a municipal electric utility company. As one of the key members of the team, Mr. Blunt was responsible for coordination of the IT strategy of the concurrent organizational and process changes. The IA team had the primary responsibility for identifying the computer and communications strategy, preparing the bid strategy, and monitoring the design implementation.

Mr. Blunt has delivered seminars on database systems at the London Business School; was a keynote speaker at Seybold Executive Forum, where his topic was using and managing groupware, and a presenter to presidents of the international airlines of Africa on the opportunities and challenges of telecommunications. He discussed the characteristics of successful Information Architecture groups at a recent meeting of the Society of Information Management, and served as Technical Advisor to the U.S. Chapter of DECUS (Digital Equipment Corporation Users Society).

Mr. Blunt oversees a continuing project on professional development for information systems professionals for a major international bank. His article “Critical IT Issues: The Next Ten Years”, co-authored with Bob Benjamin, appeared in the September 1992 edition of the Sloan Management Review.

Prior to founding Info|Ed, Mr. Blunt was vice president of Infoscope, a London-based consulting firm. Before joining Infoscope, he was with the Management Consultancy practice of Arthur Andersen in London, working on major projects in Chicago and Amsterdam.

Mr. Blunt received a master's degree in International Finance and Economics from MIT's Sloan School of Management. He graduated from the University of Bristol in the UK with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Mathematics, with first class honors.
